Do you remember Paul Potts from the video clip in June? He wowed the crowd and Simon - yes that Simon - when he sang opera. He even went on to win the competition.
Paul was on the Oprah show yesterday and despite the fact that his album has sold 1 million copies, he kept his job as a cellphone salesman. I guess it just proves that fame doesn’t have to change a person.
“It’s never too late (or early) to start living your dreams.”

Finding out unique talents is a process. For some it’s obvious right from the start what their gift is. This is especially true when it’s an obvious gift like playing the piano, singing, or athletics. For others it takes longer to discover their gifts, especially if it’s not easily definable - such as when the gift has to do with how we think or conceptualize things.
Here’s another video from the “Britain’s Got Talent” TV show. This time 6-year old Connie Talbot is showcased. Watch the judges faces change when they realize what they are witnessing. In Simon’s words… ’she was pitch-perfect’…. I don’t think you can teach pitch to anyone, can you? Isn’t that just a gift you’re born with?
According to www.news.com.au Simon ‘preliminarily agreed to sign her up to a seven-figure deal with his own record label, Sony BMG.’
If a mobile phone sales person with a chipped tooth stood in front of an audience and judge Simon Cowell (yes that Simon…) at a UK talent show - what do you think would happen? Watch the video below to find out. It may inspire you to live your gift. You may need some tissues…
We’re all diamonds - we’re just in various stages of unearthing and polishing.
“I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly
spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything
which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.”
- E.E. Cummings
