Paul Potts on Oprah

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Do you remember Paul Potts from the video clip in June? He wowed the crowd and Simon - yes that Simon - when he sang opera. He even went on to win the competition.

Paul was on the Oprah show yesterday and despite the fact that his album has sold 1 million copies, he kept his job as a cellphone salesman. I guess it just proves that fame doesn’t have to change a person.

Inspirational Video #2 - Live Your Dreams!

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

It’s never too late (or early) to start living your dreams.
- Sue

Finding out unique talents is a process. For some it’s obvious right from the start what their gift is. This is especially true when it’s an obvious gift like playing the piano, singing, or athletics. For others it takes longer to discover their gifts, especially if it’s not easily definable - such as when the gift has to do with how we think or conceptualize things.

Here’s another video from the “Britain’s Got Talent” TV show. This time 6-year old Connie Talbot is showcased. Watch the judges faces change when they realize what they are witnessing. In Simon’s words… ’she was pitch-perfect’…. I don’t think you can teach pitch to anyone, can you? Isn’t that just a gift you’re born with?

According to www.news.com.au Simon ‘preliminarily agreed to sign her up to a seven-figure deal with his own record label, Sony BMG.’

We’re all diamonds - we’re just in various stages of unearthing and polishing.

Words of Wisdom - Steve Jobs

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Have you watched the commencement address that Steve Jobs gave to the graduating class at Stanford in 2005? It contains many words of wisdom about life told via stories, including getting fired from Apple (the company he founded).

One of the gems that stood out for me was:

“For the past 33 years I’ve looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself:

If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?

Whenever the answer has been no for too many days in a row I know i need to change something.”

What would your answer to the question be? If ‘no’ - what would you want to do? What would you change?
